Missing & Endangered Alerts
The Wyoming Highway Patrol Communications Center is the sole entity responsible for activating AMBER Alerts, Ashanti Alerts, and Endangered Person Advisories for and within the State of Wyoming. If your child, loved one, or someone else is missing or endangered, please call 911 or contact your local law enforcement agency to file an initial report. Once a preliminary investigation has been conducted by your local law enforcement agency, they will contact the Wyoming Highway Patrol Communications Center to have the alert activated. Wyoming AMBER Alerts:
Criteria for Wyoming AMBER Alerts -
Law Enforcement has confirmed the abduction
The child must be 17 years of age or younger
There is reason to believe the child is in imminent danger of serious bodily injury or death
There must be sufficient information about the child, the abductor, and/or suspect
vehicle an immediate broadcast will help in recovering the child
Once a determination has been made by a law enforcement agency that an AMBER Alert is warranted, the agency will contact the Wyoming Highway Patrol (WHP) Communications center. The WHP Communications Center will fill out the request for activation and make sure criteria has been met. Once it is determined that the criteria has been met, the WHP Communications center will contact the Wyoming AMBER/Ashanti Alert Coordinator for final approval and the alert will be broadcast.
Wyoming Ashanti Alerts:
Criteria for Wyoming Ashanti Alerts -
The individual is over the age of 17 and falls outside of the scope of an AMBER Alert
Law Enforcement confirms that the adult has been abducted or Circumstances indicate the individual is in immediate danger of serious bodily injury or death (Dementia, Alzheimer's, etc.)
There is sufficient information about the adult, abductor and/or suspect, and vehicle to believe an immediate broadcast will help in recovering the person
Once a determination has been made by a law enforcement agency that an Ashanti Alert is warranted, the agency will contact the WHP Communications Center to confirm that the criteria has been met. The WHP Communications Center will fill out the State of Wyoming Ashanti Alert Request Form. All activations must be approved by the AMBER/ Ashanti Alert Coordinator.
Wyoming Endangered Person Advisories
Criteria for Wyoming Endangered Person Advisories -
The incident has been reported to and investigated by a Law Enforcement agency
The person missing is under unexplained, involuntary, or suspicious circumstances
The person is believed to be in danger of death or serious injury
There is enough information that could assist the public in the safe recovery of the missing
Once a determination has been made by a law enforcement agency that an Endangered Person Advisory is warranted, the agency will contact the WHP Communications Center to confirm that the criteria has been met. The WHP Communications Center will fill out the State of Wyoming Endangered Person Advisory Request Form. All activations must be approved by the AMBER/ Ashanti Alert Coordinator.
