How do I take care of my ticket?

If you were issued a citation by a State Trooper from the Wyoming Highway Patrol, you may choose to do one of two things:

Failure to either appear in court or pay your bond prior to your court date may result in an arrest warrant being issued.

If you wish to show proof of insurance, make a plea, request a reduction in the bond amount, have the citation dismissed or reduced, or if you have inquiries about payment methods, court dates, traffic school, etc., you must contact the Circuit Court which has jurisdiction over your citation.  The Wyoming Highway Patrol is unable to dismiss or adjust bond amounts of citations once they have been issued.  The court location and contact information is displayed on your copy of the citation.  Circuit Court phone numbers, mailing addresses, and email contact information for the various courts can be found by clicking this link.  For information regarding Tribal citations issued on the Wind River Reservation, please visit the Wind River Tribal Court website.

Citations issued by Wyoming State Troopers may be paid in-person at the Circuit Court listed on the citation during normal business hours.  Most of Wyoming's Circuit Courts will not accept personal checks.  When paying a citation by mail, please enclose a copy of the citation and a certified check or money order for the total bond amount indicated on the front of your citation - DO NOT SEND CASH.  Certified checks and money orders should be made out to the Circuit Court having jurisdiction over your citation.  The back of your citation has further instructions regarding all of the options available to you.  The easiest method of paying a ticket issued by the Wyoming Highway Patrol is online using CitePayUSA

Does the Wyoming Highway Patrol do personal background checks and/or finger printing?

The Wyoming Highway Patrol does not  perform personal background checks or fingerprinting for employment or personal purposes.

If you require a background check for employment purposes, you may contact the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation.

If you require finger printing for employment purposes, you may contact the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation or your local Sheriff's Office.

Alive at 25 - What is it and how do I enroll?

Alive at 25 is a 4.5 hour driver's awareness course designed by the National Safety Council for young drivers ages 15-24.  The course includes defensive driving classroom curriculum, decision-making and responsibility-taking exercises, classroom discussion, and interactive media presentations.  To enroll in an Alive at 25 course, please visit the Alive at 25 website.

For some young drivers who have been issued a citation in the state of Wyoming, Alive at 25 may be available in lieu of paying a fine.  In order to determine if you are eligible for this option, you must contact the Circuit Court which has jurisdiction over the citation.  Not all courts in Wyoming accept attendance at Alive at 25 in place of paying a fine.  The decision regarding whether or not to accept Alive at 25 in lieu of paying a fine is ultimately up to the Circuit Court and County/District Attorney's Office where the citation was issued.

Alive at 25 is open to all people between the ages of 15 - 24, regardless of whether you've been issued a citation or not.  For more information about the Alive at 25 program, please contact Lt. Kyle McKay at (307) 777-4303 or Kyle.McKay@wyo.gov.
