Academy Class 109 began in August 2025. Applications for Academy Class 110 are currently closed, with testing completed in August 2025 and the class commencing in early January 2026. Applications for Academy Class 111 will open soon. In-person testing for Class 111 will be held in Cheyenne from March 16th, 17th, and 18th, 2026. Academy Class 111 will begin in August 2026. Please note that application and prerequisite completion are required in advance of in-person testing.

Academy Class 108 began in January 2025. Applications for Academy Class 109 are open, the in-person testing will be held in Cheyenne on April 16-18 2025. Current open State Trooper applications are valid for Academy Class 109, beginning in late summer, 2025. We're excited to offer an abbreviated 6-week onboarding training phase for individuals who meet the qualifications for Trooper II (Wyoming POST Advanced Peace Officer Certification or equivalent, a minimum of two years of certified law enforcement experience).
New hires who meet the qualifications for Trooper II may choose to attend the full 20-week Trooper Basic Academy or the 6-week in-house onboarding training phase before beginning Field Training.
New Troopers are required to stay in the provided housing during training days and successfully complete their designated course of training at the Training Academy in Cheyenne, WY as a condition of their employment.
