Statutory Size Limits

Width: 8' 6"

Height: 14'

Length:

60' - Single unit or semi-trailer in a truck-tractor, semi-trailer combination)

81' - Semi-trailer, trailer, or double semi-trailer combination length with a truck-tractor (48' maximum semi-trailer and 40' maximum trailer, or second semi-trailer).  The heavier trailer must be the first unit behind the tractor if there is a weight difference exceeding 5,000 pounds.

85' - Any combination of vehicles other than those listed above.


NO COMBINATION OF VEHICLES SHALL CONSIST OF MORE THAN THREE (3) SINGLE VEHICLES.

Statutory Weight Limits

Weight: Single Axle = 20,000 pounds

Tandem Axle = 36,000 pounds

Triple Axle = 42,000 pounds

Each Wheel = 10,000 pounds

Each Tire:

Steering = 750 lbs./inch of stamped tire width

Other Tires = 600 lbs./inch of stamped tire width

Gross Weight:

Interstate = 117,000 pounds - Table I by formula

Primary & Secondary = 80,000 pounds - Table II

Primary & Secondary = 117,000 pounds - Table I by                                                              formula

Permit Issuing Authority

Size: Width = 18'

Height = 17'

   Length   =   120' - combination unit


Weight: Single Axle = 25,000 pounds

Tandem Axle = 55,000 pounds

Triple Axle = 65,000 pounds

GVW = 160,000 pounds 

  Construction Equipment with large tires = 55,000 lbs. per single     axle.

Permit Fees for Non-Divisible Oversize Loads:

$25.00 - Plus $0.03 per foot per mile for dimensions in excess of 15'       wide, 15' high, 75' long; single unit or single unit within combination.

Permit Fees for Non-Divisible Overweight Loads:

$40.00 minimum - $0.06 per ton per mile on the greatest excess weight.

Oversize Load Requirements

Signs visible front and rear that read “ OVERSIZE LOAD . The signs shall have a yellow background and be at least 60 inches wide by 10 inches high, with black letters at least 8 inches high, and painted in 1-inch wide brush strokes.

Lighting Requirements for Oversize Loads Authorized for Nighttime Travel - 

Over length loads require a red lamp and red reflector on each corner of the load visible from the rear and each side so as to indicate the maximum overhang.  

Over width loads require an amber clearance light on each front corner and a red clearance light on each rear corner of the load and must display a revolving amber light, amber strobe light, or two (2) two-way flashing amber lights at least 4" in diameter on the vehicle, visible to the front and rear.

Escorts - 

Escorts are required on two-lane primary and secondary highways when the movement is 110' or greater in length, 14' or greater in width, or will extend to the left of the center line during movement.  Escorts are required on Interstate or four-lane divided highways for widths of 15' or greater.  Escorts for height on all highways and length on Interstate highways are at the discretion of the approving authority.  Escorts for all highways are required for rear overhang of 25' or more.

Movements requiring escorts are not permitted on the following holidays or holiday weekends:  

Port of Entry Requirements

All commercial vehicles, transport operators, livestock haulers, and deliveries into the state of Wyoming are required to stop at a Port of Entry upon entering the state.   Pre-pass vehicles which receive an in-cab green light may continue, providing they are not hauling livestock or do not have an oversize or overweight load.
